BMW’s amazing lights
It’s those Germans, they’re mad I tell you…They’re always up to somethings. First they made a really top of the line 7 Series that can read traffic signals, identify pedestrians, animals, keep a safe distance from other cars, predict crashes etc. Now they say they want to improve the Adaptive Headlight Control System. Adaptive Headlight Control System is nothing new, but the one BMW developed it’s of the chart on the cool wall.
The thing can provide you the optimum light intensity which is calculated by it’s sensors that provide the headlights the necessary commands, all that results in perfect light conditions. If you drive uphill for example, the sensors detect the angle of your car and will make the headlights to tilt down. It works the same in corners, it detects the direction your cornering and it adjusts it’s light position.
This is what BMW tells us about this system:
The Adaptive Headlight technology is based on the dynamic headlamp control system. Sensors measure speed, steering angle and yaw (degree of rotation around the vertical axis). Based on this information, small electric motors turn the headlights so the beam falls on the road ahead, guiding you into the bend.
The headlight system is activated whenever the vehicle is moving forwards. When the vehicle is in reverse or if the steering wheel is turned when the vehicle is not moving (such as when leaving a parallel parking space), the headlights do not turn, in order to prevent blinding the drivers of oncoming traffic.
There’s even a picture that basically explains the whole thing.
