The 44.5 mpg Audi A5 TDI
Audi has launched a 44.5 mpg (53.4 mpg UK, 5.3 l/100km) TDI A5. This cool 2.0 TDI engine delivers 143 bhp in it’s front wheel drive form, and 170 hp in it’s quattro form. The 2.0 TDI engine is mated to a 6 gear manual. The front wheel drive A5 goes from 0 to 60 mph in 8.3 sec and the quattro gets there in only 8.2 seconds.
The S line option for this A5 will cost you an extra 5000 dollars. The 2.0 TDI A5 is almost as economical as a Toyota Prius, think about that for a sec. You might also want to consider the fact that it produces 350 Nm of torque starting from 1,750 rpm.
I drove the new Audi A4 2.0 TDI that uses the same engine, and all I can say is that it’s really quiet for a diesel and the fuel economy is great. I think the time Americans buy cars from Europe is here, you can’t beat this fuel consumption.
